Walker Talk

James Walker takes some time out to reflect on what has been a very busy 2008 before looking ahead to what promises to be a big year for the British racer in 2009.

James Walker, 9 September 2008

Last time we spoke you were just about to head off to Budapest for the race at the Hungaroring. How did it go? It was a good weekend. My best result of the weekend was 6th place. I had a race-long battle with Duncan Tappy which went right down to the last lap.

You've had your home event at Silverstone now. Tell us about the weekend from a personal perspective? Is there extra pressure at your home race from friends and family? Do you think Silverstone put on as good a show as Donington? From a racing point of view, Silverstone was fantastic and I found myself having lots of wheel-to-wheel battles in both races.

You are two events into the new World Series by Renault season. How is the season shaping up for you so far? I think we've had a very positive start to the season.

What Is World Series By Renault?

After moving through the ranks of Formula Ford and Formula 3 I'm taking a big step up this year, to the World Series by Renault. What's that? Well, let me explain.

My WSbR Diary: First Ever Test

The task of making the next step up the racing ladder began two weeks prior to making my "World Series by Renault" test debut at the Paul Ricard Circuit in the South of France. It actually started with a trip to Barcelona to see the last round of this year's Championship. This was the first time I had seen the cars in action and I have to say that I was impressed. With crowds as big as 150,000 at some races, Barcelona showed me that these are world-class events.
